What a great story! Nick Generux of Minnesota, 24 years old, served 14 months in Iraq (2005-2006) and during that time often thought of muskie fishing in Minnesota as well as Lake of the Woods, dreaming of a fish that would beat his best ever. He even corresponded with Simply Fishing's Bob Mehsikomer and Bob responded by sending him his DVDs to be shared with other Iraq veterans. Further, Bob invited Nick to come to Witch Bay Camp while Mehsikomer was filming in August 2006. The timing was perfect because Nick would be returning home from Iraq after 14 long months. After fishing for three days without much success, he caught a 49-inch beauty on custom Crane bait provided by Russ Warye. His trophy was holding on shallow rockbars and followed the crankbait into the boat, striking on the first turn of the figure 8. All of those dreams of muskies that helped to pass the time in the face of incredible danger came true on a trip to Witch Bay Camp! Congratulations Nick and thank you for your service!
